Assistant Director of Food Services (Full-Time)

This position is responsible for assisting in ensuring that all food service programs are provided on a daily basis and within budget.  This is done while ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local government requirements. Although this position’s home base is the Main Campus, this position is responsible for the kitchen operations on both Coalition campuses. Duties: Train and monitor all Food Services staff. Participate in the budgeting process for Kitchen operations, and assist in ensuring that both campuses stay within their respective budgets for food, supplies and labor costs. Assist in Implementing the Homeless Children’s Nutrition Program and ensure consistent compliance. Perform regular, but random, sanitation inspections of all food preparation areas, all food & supply storage areas and the Dining Rooms. Develop a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly cleaning/sanitation schedule of all Food Service areas. Ensure that all County and State health codes are enforced and that any corrective action needed is taken immediately. Monitor and inspect all donated foods to insure that they are all safe for consumption.  Maintain regular relations with the community meal sponsorship groups; work to ensure both sides are meeting each other’s expectations. Assist in the coordination of the pickup and delivery of food donations from the community. Ensure proper supervision and support of all volunteers in the kitchens and dining rooms on both campuses. Monitor codes of conduct for both staff and volunteers in the kitchens and dining rooms on both campuses. Assist in the timely preparation of all meals on both campuses. Identify and communicate needs and issues before they become an emergency. Attend regularly scheduled Food Service staff meetings. Complete all necessary paperwork for Accounting, Volunteer Services, and other departments as needed. Fill in or find shift coverage as needed. Support Coalition events and meetings as needed. Complete other reasonable tasks in the absence of the Director of Food Services.

Candidates must possess: Substantial experience supervising a commercial/retail kitchen operation. Experience setting menus and maintaining a food budget. Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook or similar computer software. Will require to work flexible hours (early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays). Maintain a favorable driving record that will insure the approval of the agencies vehicles insurance provider. Ability to anticipate and identify critical issues. Strong community relations and organizational skills.

Kitchen Manager (Part-Time)

Selected candidate will be responsible to prepare and serve meals with the assistance of community and resident volunteers. Duties include supervising volunteers in the kitchen; cleaning and organizing the kitchen after each meal service; accepting, documenting and storing food donations; and ensuring safety and cleanliness standards are met.  Kitchen Manager will work with food donors and volunteers in a manner that ensures a cordial, secure and efficient environment that will stimulate continued food donations and volunteer participation in the meal program.

Must possess high school diploma or GED. Must have relevant cooking and kitchen management experience, as well as supervisory and customer service experience.

Volunteer Coordinator (Part-Time)

Under the supervision of the Director of Community Engagement, selected candidate will be responsible for volunteer coordination and responding to inquiries related to volunteer opportunities and/or in-kind donations. The Coordinator will be the main point of contact and will ensure volunteers have a meaningful experience while serving the organization.

This position has several main areas of responsibility, and will support all areas of Community Engagement as needed. Duties within the area of Coordination of Volunteers include: Main contact for volunteers on Saturdays. Refer new and existing volunteers to our website to sign-up for opportunities. Assist with this process, as needed. Provide additional support to Volunteer Manager or Director of Community Engagement to handle volunteer groups. Check volunteer general email account daily. Respond to all inquiries possible and refer when appropriate. Serve as first contact for phone inquiries.

Duties in the area of Donation Management include: This position is responsible for tracking all non-monetary donations received, organizing them appropriately, and ensuring and tracking their proper disposition.  The Volunteer Coordinator will also be responsible for monitoring inventory levels and forecasting supply deficits, informing the Director of Community Engagement and assisting in the community outreach efforts to meet supply needs. Will work with Case Managers to complete “Personal Item Requests” for clients. Manage waiting list for bicycles; schedule deliveries and repair events.

Candidate must possess: prior experience working with volunteers; excellent organizational skills; strong oral communication skills; be very detail-oriented; experience supervising small groups performing simple tasks; and proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point). He/she must have the ability to represent the Coalition well and be comfortable speaking in front of groups. A pleasant and outgoing nature, good judgment, and solid decision-making are also required. Position works Tuesday-Saturday, 20 hours each week.
