COALITION APPRECIATIVE OF AMPLE BLANKET & COAT DONATIONS
ORLANDO, Fla. — (January 7, 2010)—Thanks to a phenomenal community outpouring, Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida presently has an ample supply of blankets and coats for use over the cold season. The Coalition is very grateful to the community for helping to ensure that the men, women and children staying at its facilities are warm throughout this cold snap. For the time being, blanket and coat donors are being referred to the Salvation Army Men's Division and to the Orange County Public Schools which serve the Coalition: Ferncreek Elementary School, Howard Middle School and Jones High School.

In a quick response to the drop in temperatures, MIX 105.1 radio held a blanket drive for the Coalition on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 resulting in hundreds of needed blankets from community members being delivered. Orange County Commissioner Linda Stewart also put out a call for the needed items. In addition to the blanket drives and many donations from individuals, Walt Disney World Resort mobilized their efforts in a matter of hours and dropped off a truckload of blankets, coats and warm weather supplies on Wednesday, January 6, 2010.
Should these cold weather items be needed throughout the winter months, the Coalition will again put out an appeal through the media.
